Configuring the Wireless Supplicant on a Client Device

In this lesson, I’ll show you how to configure the wireless supplicant directly on your device to connect to a Wi-Fi network. We’ll go step-by-step through the process on a Windows computer, covering how to set up a connection manually and create a profile to connect automatically in the future.

Connecting to a Wireless Network

To start, let’s connect to a Wi-Fi network. I’ll walk you through each step, including entering the network’s SSID (Service Set Identifier) and passphrase.

  1. Open Wi-Fi Settings: Click on the Wi-Fi icon in the bottom-right corner of your Windows screen to see available networks.
  2. Select Network: From the list of networks in your area, select the SSID of the network you want to connect to. In my example, I’ll select “MikroTikHomeAC.”
  3. Enter Password: After selecting the SSID, you’ll be prompted to enter the network password. Type it in, and click Connect.

4. Verify Connection: Once connected, you’ll see a “Connected, secured” status next to the network name, confirming that your device is now linked to the Wi-Fi.
